Wind speed is measured from the roof free from inaccuracies caused by buildings and trees. This is connected by a small cable to the main sensor and transmitting unit (ISS).

The ISS (integrated sensor suite) includes temperature, humidity, barometric, rain, solar and UV sensors. The white finned unit is a fan-aspirated radiation shield so that the readings are not affected by being in open sun light. On the far left is a solar panel powering everything. On the right is the wireless transmitter connecting the unit to consoles in the house -- as well as the computer.
